Before the Dawn | Dragon Age Inquisition Wiki



Before the Dawn is part of the inner circle quests of Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. The quest is given to you by Cullen. It initiates at Skyhold, but Inquisitor must be allied with the mages and completed In Hushed Whispers.
Much like the Inquisition, Corypheus has invested great time and effort building a trusted inner circle. Samson is a former templar, a lyrium addict, and now the leader of the red templars. Cullen knows Samson well, and he believes intercepting caravans smuggling red lyrium in the Emerald Graves could get the Inquisition closer to taking him down.





  • Objectives:
  1. Find 3 smuggler letters.
  2. Take the smuggler letters to Cullen.
  3. Raid Sharnia Quarry.
  4. Return to Cullen with the information found at the quarry.
  5. Acquire the services of an arcanist.
  6. Speak with the Dagna about Samson's armor.
  7. Go to the war table to find Samson's weakness.
  8. Speak to Cullen abut what Dagna discovered.
  9. Dispatch agents to locate Maddox.
  10. Speak to Cullen about raiding Samson's camp.
  11. Travel to Samson's Camp at the Shrine of Dumat.
  12. Find Maddox
  13. Search the camp to find clues about Samson's armor.

  1. Meet Cullen at Skyhold to discuss Maddox's tools with Dagna.

  • Rewards: 1,025 XP, 400 Influence, 3 Power
  • Choices & Consequences: N/A
  • Player Notes: If possible, begin this quest without having hired Dagna into the Inquistion. If that is the case, Cullen with ask you to hire Dagna using the war table instead.
