Smoldering Core is an item in Dragon Age: Inquisition. It is dropped by enemies and utilized at the research table in
Haven or
Skyhold. After turning in enough items you will receive a bonus towards that Enemy type. You can see your progress on each enemy by viewing the card of that enemy type in your codex. Once you have turned in at least 1 Research Items dropped by that creature, there will be a bar under that card in the Codex screen showing the progress.
